Q: I want to install an outdoor kitchen, what should I do first?

First, Lets Find Your Added Load...

  • Infra Red grill at 1500 watts
  • Refrigerator at 1250 watts
  • Ceiling fans at 200 watts each
  • pendant lights at 60 watts each

Total wattage = 3300 watts. 3330/120 volt = 27.75 amps.

Now each 20 amp circuit can carry 80% of its rating for 3 hours or more (continuous duty). So, each 20 amp breaker is good for 16 amps 16 amps x 120volt = 1920 watts. So, 27.75 amps /16 amps = 1.7 or (2) two 20 amp circuits. You will need (2) 20 amp, 120 volt circuits to operate your added "load".
